Privacy
You don’t need an account to use the dictionary. If you sign in, we keep only what is listed below.
What we store
- The id of the account you signed in with (Google, Discord or GitHub).
- Your name and picture as that service gives them, and your email if Google gives it.
- Your favorite words.
- A sign-in cookie (sid) that keeps you signed in for 30 days.
When you report a problem, edit a word or record it
- We keep what you sent and a keyed hash of your IP address, to stop spam. The address itself is not stored.
- A recording is kept as an mp3 file; if it is not approved, the file is deleted.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you are not a bot. It loads only when you open the form.
When you check words (Is it right?)
- We keep each answer (right or wrong, and a reason if you give one) with a keyed hash of your IP address and of a random id in the voter cookie, or with your account when you are signed in. The admin sees how many people answered, not who.
When something breaks
- Sentry, an error-reporting service, tells us when the site throws an error in your browser, so it can be fixed. A report carries the error and where in the code it happened, the page you were on, your browser and its version, and your IP address, which Sentry uses to place the error roughly and does not show us as an address.
- Nothing else is sent: no recording of your session, and no measurements of how long pages took. If you would rather send nothing at all, your browser’s “Do Not Track” or an ad blocker stops Sentry loading.
The visitor counter
- The footer carries the TOP.GE counter, the public ranking of Georgian sites. On every page it tells TOP.GE the page’s address, where you came from (the referrer), your screen size and its colour depth; TOP.GE also sees your IP address and browser, as any site you request does. It sets no cookie, keeps nothing in your browser and does not identify you.
What we don’t do
- We store no passwords: you sign in only with Google, Discord or GitHub.
- There are no ads and no tracking cookies.
- We never sell or share your data.
Cookies and browser storage
- sid: keeps you signed in. oauth: only while signing in, for 10 minutes. nsfw: your choice about vulgar words. voter: a random id, so the words you already checked aren’t shown again (a year).
- Your browser’s storage (localStorage) keeps the theme, the translation direction and, without an account, your favorite words. They never leave your device.
- The server log keeps the pages requested and the browser’s name, to fix errors.
Deleting
- “Delete account” on your account page immediately deletes your name, picture, email, favorite words and connected accounts.
- What you contributed to the dictionary stays, without your name.
